Updated to openSUSE 12.3 a few days ago, so far the only casualty is my ethernet port. There appears to be a nasty regression in the e1000e driver that causes the link to drop every few minutes, causing IRC and other connections to time out. Googling around shows this driver has a number of problems and work-arounds for hardware bugs already built in, but the problem I have appears to be a new one.
So far I tried
- Interrupt mode forced to PCI
- ASPM off
- Eeprom fix (but not applicable to my hardware)
- using the latest stable driver from sourceforge.net
